SEPTEMBER PLANS
Dear Maplebrook Families:
The coronavirus pandemic has presented challenges for us all; challenges that at Maplebrook School we have met with creativity, courage and compassion. We have learned a great deal over the summer session, we have made adjustments throughout the school to facilitate the safe return of your students this fall. Throughout the pandemic, I believe we have injected as much normalcy and familiarity of routines as possible to help us all cope better. We have been forensic in our approach to safety both for the campus and the entire Maplebrook community.
Our opening plan for the 2020-21 school year can be found here: https:// www.maplebrookschool.org/uploads/1/2/2/7/122766165/ mbs_resuming_operations_2020-21_school_year.pdf
We hope it answers questions you have. Clearly, the landscape is constantly changing, but we are committed to maintaining the same quality education, safety and well-being to which you are accustomed. Our approach will always be based on the guidance of local and state authorities. It will be flexible, but always with the whole community in the forefront.
In response to Governor Cuomo’s travel advisory and the mandatory quarantine necessary for all people coming to New York State, we are offering early entrance to those from restricted states and foreign countries so that we can make the required quarantine more comfortable for the students. This will be a non-negotiable offer in order to ensure the safety of the students coming and the staff here working with them. Therefore, if you are from a foreign country or a restricted state as of August 25, your student may return to campus on September 1. Please respond to this email that you will have your student return on that date and we will be in touch with you with specific details.
As we embark on this adjusted school atmosphere, we are looking ahead, not simply to the start of a new academic year, but to the whole of that academic year. We are confident in our ability to thrive in response to the challenges presented with this pandemic and to do so safely with the mission of Maplebrook School in mind.
Be safe and see you in September!
